Mattupetty Hill Station


Mattupetty is situated in the famous hill town of Munnar and located at a distance of 12 Km from Munnar. Mattupetty is heaven from nature lovers, for the reason that it is undulating plantation hills of Munnar.

Apart from the luxurious green tea plantations, as well as the rolling grasslands, of the Shola forests in and around Mattupetty are perfect destination for trekking and the place is home to many variety of birds. Rivulets and cascades crisscross the topography at this place, which again enhances the attraction to the Mattupetty.

Mattupetty is situated 1700 meters above sea level. It is also famous for its highly specialized dairy farm - the Indo Swiss Livestock Project. More than 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared at this place. Visitors are allowed into 3 of the 11 cattle sheds at the farm.

One of the major places of interest in Mattupetty is the wonderful lake, as well as the Mattupetty Dam, that are perfect picnic places. The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Idukki offers boating services at Mattupetty Dam. Speed launch, slow speedboat in addition to motorboats are offered on rent. Additional nearby attractions include the scenic Kundala tea plantations as well as the Kundala Lake.
